Obituary of Nels Eric Peterson

Nels Eric Peterson was born July 25, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Chester Nels Jr. and Karen Linn (Dusenbury) Peterson, as the second child and first boy in the family. He is survived by his parents: Chester and Karen Peterson, Jr.; stepmother Mary Peterson; sister Joy Anckner (Joe) of Awendaw, South Carolina; brothers Erik Linn Peterson (Karna) of Lindsborg, Kansas; and Dr. Ragnar Peterson (Brittney) of Wichita, Kansas; as well as one niece, eight nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Nels attended the Lindsborg grade and high schools, followed by attending some college at the University of Kansas majoring in Art History. Quite active in Boy Scouts, by his middle teens Nels had achieved the coveted rank of Eagle Scout. Appreciative of music all his life, Nels spent some time working in the road crew of the famed 3 Dog Night rock and roll band as it traveled around the country. He assisted in the start-up of Community Access Television in Salina. Nels also worked in jobs ranging from traveling for New Breeds Industries, Manhattan, Kansas, to various positions as a carpenter and designer. He also at one time owned and operated Lindsborg’s Swedish Bakery on Main Street famed for its cinnamon rolls. Nels was also proud to have been raised to the third degree of Master Mason, the fourth generation Mason in his family. Perhaps his greatest enjoyments came from walking the pastured Smoky Hills and viewing its varied wildlife.
