Obituary of Norma Lyn Verdon
Please share a memory of Norma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
She was a princess and the love of our lives whose passing shifted the latitude of our world.
Norma Lyn Verdon, 77, of Lindsborg, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Salina Regional Health Center. Norma was born January 24,1946, in Lindsborg, KS, to the late Raymond and Maud (Andes) Lundberg.
Norma married Roger Verdon on July 21,1973 in the living room of her childhood home in Lindsborg, KS. She attended Lindsborg schools and graduated from Bethany College (Kappa Gamma Phi sorority) and from Stony Brook University with a Master’s in Education. She was an educator whose career spanned primary, secondary, and collegiate education.
She loved to travel around the country, especially in her Triumph Spitfire convertible when she was younger. Later, she tooled around in her 1990 Volvo that is usually parked outside her Main St. home like some sort of local landmark. She would tell people to just stop at the Volvo to find her house. Her other passions were watching old TV westerns, and her cat, Lola, as were a lifetime of cats and dogs. She was a big fan of Bob’s Ham Spread at White’s Grocery, KU Basketball, maps, mountains, and the impending Kansas weather.
Norma started nearly every day with a phone call with her daughter Amy. The calls were a highlight of her life. And she laughed at all of her husband’s jokes, even when they were not funny.
Norma is survived by her husband Roger Verdon, of the home; daughter Amy Verdon of Chicago, IL; brother Wendell Lundberg of Lindsborg; nieces Linda (Sissy) Lundberg, of Wells, and Debbie Myers, of Lindsborg, as well as numerous extended family members and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Maud Lundberg, her brother Lloyd Lundberg and sister-in-law Georgana Lundberg.
Cremation was chosen. A Celebration of Norma’s Life will be held at Villa Ro, 421 East Saline, in Lindsborg on Sunday, November 26th from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lindsborg Community Library in support of children’s books or The Messiah Festival in Lindsborg, KS, in care of Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
