Leah Ann and family,
Words do not come to mind when I heard from mom that Marv had passed away. The sorrow in my heart took me back and it ached for you. Although I am not as close to all of you as the rest of my family, you are still thought of so dearly as I know you have always been such an integral part of their lives. From the times I was allowed to hear about from mom and dads lips the crazy things the four or six of you did together, I always felt close in spirit. Those friendships are rare and so very special, I am glad that through the years, you have always been close and were revered as family to each other. Though the road has been rough and heavy on your shoulders and heart, you can sit and smile amidst the tears that Marv is now with dad and Ken, probably enjoying each other all over again, only pain free and with smiles as big as the horizon. Just as they are together now, you girls are now as well, and my hopes are that you can be there for each other in your times ahead, good and bad. Lean on each other as each of you are strong women and know exactly what each has been through. If anyone has empathy for the recent events of your life, it is each one of you. Rest assured, when I see you again, I will give you the biggest hug ever. Until then, know that you are in my thoughts and in my prayers. All my love, an extension of the Johnson family, Kris Davis

I have many fond memories of Marv and Leah Ann from their time living in Cape Girardeau. I remember lots of good times with our families together with delicious food and lots of laughter. I know I babysat for David and Joe several times! Marv was always so fun and teased my brother Spencer and me-I especially remember him staying with us the day our little sister was born and my brother broke out In chicken pox! I know he will be greatly missed.

I will forever treasure my time as a player and as a part of the Bethany College football staff with Marv. He always had the players best interest in mind as he was a tremendous Christian mentor. I will always remember the Buddha snacks for Sunday defensive staff meetings, his Swedish costume for practices during Hyllingfest, his practical jokes to keep the staff and players grounded during KW week and of course his alternate persona as Knute's nurse. But most all I will treasure his friendship and example as a husband and father.
As much as I will miss him, I know the community of Lindsborg will miss him more. His love for his beloved hometown and heritage were a thing to behold. He is a Lindsborg treasure!
May the Lord grant you all strength, comfort and peace.

Good bye to a dear friend and associate during our time in the Lindsborg community. Marv never knew a stranger, everyone was his friend. The community will miss him greatly. Mary and my prayers go out to the family. God bless!

I played and coached for Bethany football in the 70s. I observed a man who I would say had a glass half full attitude. Intelligent, funny, caring were three things I remembered most of Marv. Mr Bethany College! RIP

Marv was a neighbor during my grade school years. Even as a boy he was kind and, as a bit of a protector, stood up for me when I needed a hero. I hope his family knows how many of us were touched by Marv’s life even before he was old enough to contribute in more significant ways to Lindsborg and Bethany College.

Marv was my coach at Bethany from 1981-85. I loved him. He was a great man. I know he suffered a lot the last number of years.
Im thankful he is pain free in the hands of Jesus. My condolences to his family.
