Ken was my brother in law and I describe him as contemplative, big-hearted, always looking for opportunities to add value in others' lives and working quietly in the background for the benefit all. He was one of the smartest people I have ever known and such a gentle man. He did his best at everything he was involved in and never did just enough. Ken was passionate about so many things and this passion was present all through his life and endeavors. What a dedicated father, grandfather, brother, husband, community member and friend. I'm so glad to have known you, Ken, and you will be dearly missed.

Inspirational and passionate are two words that best describe Ken (Dr. Branch). His love for anthropology, sociology, history, and educating was neverending. He was the reason behind my senior thesis, many essays and ideas throughout college, and my involvement with the Kansas Anthropology Association. I still have my notes and textbooks from his classes as well as his emails of advice. I will always keep his memory alive by sharing the knowledge he taught me with my students. I am so very thankful for his boundless dedication to students and his passions.

Two of my favorite pictures of my Dad. The black and white was taken on March 24, 2001. Not sure of the date or event of the cowboy hat picture, but it reminds me of him back in the days when he would take me to my dance classes and then out for our favorite, Mexican food (usually at Maria's).
