Roma J. “Jean” Opat, 89, of Lindsborg passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Riverview Estates, Marquette, KS. Jean was born January 16, 1934 in McPherson, KS to the late Milo R and the late Dorothy (Bunnell) Johnson.
Jean was the wife of John F. Opat. She graduated high school and worked as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) at St. John’s Hospital in Salina and the Lindsborg Community Hospital, as well as several other clinics.
Jean was a member of St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church, Lindsborg.
Survivors include son: David Opat (Eunice) of Lindsborg, KS; daughter: Jane Balaun of rural Saline County; son: Joseph Opat of Lindsborg, KS; sister: Karen Leaf (J. Alan) of Lindsborg, KS; sister-in-law: Susie Johnson of Miami, TX; as well as 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband: John F. Opat; brother: Rex Johnson; and daughter: Diane Opat.
A visitation will be Friday, February 3 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00p.m. at St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church, 206 W Swensson, Lindsborg, KS. There will be a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., following the visitation.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, at St. Bridget Of Sweden Catholic Church, Lindsborg, KS, with Father Benjamin Shockey officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.
Memorials may be made to St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church. Memorials may be sent in care of Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
